CHUCK SCHULDINER's Mother: Only One Person Is Qualified To Speak On Family's Behalf

February 28, 2007

Jane Schuldiner, mother of late DEATH/CONTROL DENIED frontman Chuck Schuldiner, has issued the following statement:

"I would like to address the concerned emails from fans and friends of Chuck about someone who is speaking out of turn, someone who obviously thinks he can speak with authority of matters that are none of his business at all. The disloyalty shown is a huge disappointment to friends, fans, and family. I question his reasons, and assure you that he has no authority at all, just an enormous amount of chutzpah. There is only one person who is qualified and authorized in any way to speak of Chuck's family and the ongoing plans for Chuck's future works, and that is Beth, Chuck's sister, who he named himself as executor of his estate. And myself as requested, who meets with Beth on important issues. I hope you also read the statementBeth made on the Blabbermouth site about rumors; she spoke then for this entire family, which includes she, Christopher [Chuck's nephew] and myself. Other than that, there is not a person who is qualified or asked to speak on behalf of Chuck's business affairs, past or future. Thankfully, loyalty and dignity keeps most of Chuck's circle of friends and acquaintances from doing so. If you do not hear it from Beth or myself, please regard it as just rumors, gossip, whatever. Thank you for keeping me aware, I appreciate your concern and am as near as my email, as always."

Schuldiner passed away on December 13, 2001 after a battle with pontine glioma, a rare type of brain tumor. He was 34 years old.
